Indicative. Classes 1 to 34 are goods and 35 to 45 are services; the class is decided by the specific goods or services in your application, and the Registry examines the description, not the class number. A brand that manufactures and also sells online usually needs both the goods class and class 35. We confirm the classes and file for ₹1,000 per class plus the government fee.
How to use the result
Trade marks are registered per class, and protection extends only to the goods or services listed. Choose the class of what you actually sell today and, where the plan is realistic, what you will sell within a year or two; a mark can be filed in several classes in one application, at ₹4,500 per class for individuals, startups and MSMEs and ₹9,000 for others. Three patterns cover most Indian businesses. A product brand files in its goods class and in class 35 if it sells online or through its own stores. A service business files in its service class; a restaurant is 43, a coaching institute 41, a software company 42 and sometimes 9 for the app itself. An agency or consultancy is usually 35, with 42 for anything technical and 45 for anything legal.
