Since September 2025, establishments with up to ten employees are exempt from most of the Act, but still register and renew. Our shops and establishments guide compares the states.

Setting up your registered office in Hyderabad
Electricity bill as address proof
Hyderabad is supplied by TGSPDCL, the Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana, which was called TSSPDCL until 2024. Either name on the bill is fine; what matters is that it is for the registered office premises and not more than two months old.
Office lease
A lease for a term of more than one year, or one reserving a yearly rent, must be registered under the Registration Act, 1908 at the sub-registrar office for the property. Telangana registration is handled by the Registration and Stamps Department, and the duty depends on the term and the rent.
GHMC trade licence
GHMC issues trade licences under section 521 of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Act, 1955 for the businesses listed in its schedule, online through the GHMC website. Whether an office needs one depends on the activity carried on there, so we check the list for your business.
