What is Trademark Renewal?

A registered trademark lasts ten years from the application date and renews indefinitely in ten-year blocks via Form TM-R — filable up to one year before expiry, with a surcharge grace window of six months after, and a restoration procedure (never guaranteed) for up to a year beyond that.

Lapse consequences are asymmetric: the ® becomes unusable, infringement remedies weaken, and the mark eventually becomes available to others — while renewal is a modest fee (₹9,000 government, per class) and a form. We verify registration status, file TM-R, and put the next cycle on a decade-long calendar so this never depends on anyone’s memory.
